Zone 9 Meeting

Zone Meeting Held at Wallies East on Sept. 24th

Members from West Flint, Breakfast Flint, Central Flint and Davison came together to discuss Optimist business.

The major discussion was led by Anne Kelley, Whaley Children's Center Board Member and former Davison President.

The Optimist House is being reopened and the house is being prepped for the children's move in. West Flint, Breakfast, Downtown and Davison contribute to a fund that provides birthday parties monthly for 24 Whaley children as well as activities such as a trip to the gym on a regular basis. Through the coordinated effort, the clubs are able to provide better, more consistent service to the children. We are excited about the house opening as it will allow a more personal connection, and holiday celebrations in a more home like setting than the Mott Campus at Whaley.

New Business:

The Zone would like to host a NOW meeting in the spring with the help of the district. The combined Zone meeting will allow a greater selection of meeting time and location for prospective members.

Next Zone Meeting:

December 10th at Wallies East 9am.

2nd Annual OSCAR Awards

The celebration and awards ceremony for the 2nd OSCAR ("Optimist Student Challenge All-star Reader") session was held at a luncheon at noon on Friday, December 18th, at Emanuel Lutheran Church across the parking lot from Foster School. Participating students received their OSCARS and were allowed to choose a book as their gift.
